Equipment Loan Program

Many arts organizations in Seattle and King County lack the resources to purchase accessibility equipment, creating barriers for disabled patrons who want to engage with cultural programming. With 472,723 King County residents living with disabilities (20.2% of the population), this represents a significant underserved audience.

SCAC's Equipment Loan Program (ELP) provides free access to essential accessibility tools for arts organizations throughout King County. In partnership with Seattle Theatre Group (STG), we're creating a comprehensive lending library that removes financial barriers to accessibility.

Program Benefits

  • Captioning and assistive listening devices

  • PA System

  • Ramps

  • Portable wheelchairs

  • Sensory kits

  • Audio description gear

  • Swell Form Machine and Braille Labeler to create tactile materials

Exact equipment available will be determined by the results of a needs-based survey of the arts and cultural community.

How It Works

  • Organizations apply online through SCAC's website

  • STG manages storage, maintenance, and distribution

  • Training and support provided through comprehensive resources

  • Feedback collected to continuously improve the program
