Celebrate Disability Pride Month: Events in Seattle This July
July is Disability Pride Month—a time to recognize the history, achievements, and ongoing contributions of people with disabilities while championing visibility, acceptance, and inclusion. This month also marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark law advancing the rights of disabled people across the U.S.
Seattle is celebrating with a fantastic lineup of events that highlight the strength, creativity, and diversity of our disability community. Check out these upcoming opportunities to connect, learn, and celebrate:
Seattle Disability Arts Festival

Join a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of disability art and culture! Enjoy performances in music, dance, visual art, and spoken word—all created by local disabled artists. Don’t forget to stop by the SCAC table and say hello.

City Council Candidate Forum on Disability Issues

Get informed and get involved! This community-led forum focuses on disability policy and priorities in Seattle, featuring candidates from Districts 2, 8, and 9. The event is hosted in collaboration with local disability organizations and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD).
Spend the Day at the Zoo with the Library and Friends

Time: 10:00 AM–2:00 PM
Location: Woodland Park Zoo Rose Garden
Cost: Free (includes complimentary zoo admission for all participants!)
Celebrate Disability Pride Month with a family-friendly day at Woodland Park Zoo! Enjoy activity and information booths, ASL Story Time, and the Seattle Public Library Bookmobile. Visit the Seattle Sensory Garden for a braille-enhanced story experience featuring I Am a Masterpiece! by Mia Armstrong.
